Christian Counseling

Christian counseling for healing, growth, and flourishing.

Find compassionate, evidence-informed care that honors your faith and attends to the whole person: mind, body, spirit, relationships, and daily life.

Whole-person care

Faith and professional counseling can work together with care.

Christian counseling within The Rooted Collective integrates professional mental health care with a biblical understanding of identity, grace, relationships, suffering, hope, and spiritual growth. Faith integration is never forced. Scripture may support the work, and prayer may be included with consent, but neither replaces appropriate clinical care.

“Come to Me…and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

Who counseling may support

A meaningful fit for people who want professional care that welcomes faith.

Clients do not need perfect faith, extensive biblical knowledge, or everything spiritually resolved. Counseling can make room for Christians seeking integrated care, people returning to faith, individuals experiencing doubt, clients hurt by religious communities, and couples or families who want a shared Christian framework.

Anxiety and chronic stress Depression and discouragement Trauma-related concerns Grief and loss Relationship and marital concerns Boundaries and communication Life transitions and adjustment Burnout and caregiver strain Self-worth, shame, and identity Spiritual distress or questions of faith Family conflict Purpose, direction, and personal growth

A safe and respectful space

Clients can speak honestly about experiences, faith, questions, relationships, and emotions without condemnation.

Collaborative goals

The client and therapist identify goals together and revisit progress throughout treatment.

Practical application

Sessions may include reflection, psychoeducation, skill-building, journaling, grounding, communication practice, or between-session exercises.

Faith at the client's pace

Faith integration is tailored to the client's preferences, needs, background, and treatment goals.

Clear boundaries

Counseling, coaching, pastoral care, and community each have a distinct purpose.

Licensed Counseling

Addresses mental health symptoms, emotional distress, relationships, functioning, and clinical treatment goals within the therapist's professional scope.

Coaching

Focuses on goals, accountability, growth, and future-oriented action. Coaching does not diagnose or treat mental health disorders.

Pastoral Care

Provides spiritual guidance, discipleship, prayer, and theological support through qualified ministry leaders.

Table Groups

Offer Christian community, education, encouragement, prayer, and shared growth. They are not substitutes for psychotherapy.

For therapists

Practice with clinical excellence and Christian integrity.

The Rooted Collective welcomes licensed and appropriately credentialed mental health professionals who value evidence-informed care, ethical faith integration, professional humility, and whole-person wellness.

01

Professional credentials

Active credentials, appropriate training, and commitment to ethical, legally compliant care.

02

Faith without coercion

Respect for informed consent, client autonomy, trauma-informed care, and culturally responsive practice.

03

Clear roles

Respect for the distinct roles of therapist, pastor, coach, group leader, and community support.

Do I have to be a Christian?

No. Counselors should respect each client's beliefs and preferences. The degree of Christian integration is discussed openly.

Will my therapist pray with me?

Prayer may be offered when appropriate and only with the client's agreement.

Will Scripture replace therapy?

No. Scripture may support the work, but it is not used to dismiss symptoms, bypass emotional processing, or replace appropriate clinical interventions.

Is counseling confidential?

Counselors protect confidentiality within the limits established by law, professional ethics, informed-consent documents, and safety obligations.

Can counseling help with trauma?

Some clinicians may be trained to work with trauma-related concerns. Clients should be matched with a therapist whose competence aligns with their needs.

Can I join a Table Group while attending counseling?

Potentially, but the two services remain separate. Participation should be considered carefully when dual relationships, privacy, or clinical concerns may arise.

The information provided on this page is educational and does not establish a therapist-client relationship. Services, licensure, availability, fees, and areas of specialization vary by clinician and location. Christian counseling is not a substitute for emergency care, medical treatment, or other services outside the counselor's professional scope. If you are experiencing an emergency or may harm yourself or someone else, contact 911, 988 in the United States, or your local emergency service.
